For the past several years, one of my main goals in life has been to write about internationally-renowned superstar Tommy Wiseau. Thanks to Pitchfork, Detroit-based band the Armed and the legend himself, I finally have the opportunity. As Pitchfork reported today, Tommy is the star of the video for the Armed’s new song, “Role Models.” He wears one of those weird camouflage suits that’s made to look like long grass. He sits next to a reel-to-reel player and some speakers. He moves back and for...

Sufjan Stevens literally rose from the stage to serenade the audience at the 90th edition of the Oscars. If you have less than two minutes to spare, you can watch it below. The Detroit native performed “Mystery of Love,” a song from the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack that is one of three he contributed. As yes, that is St. Vincent on the right looking like she’s ready to rock out. We wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t notice because you were distracted by Sufjan Stevens’ suit. Watch Suf...

My wallet is taking a hit lately. There are so many good bands preparing to come through town this spring and summer.  One of those bands is Radiohead, who will play Little Caesars Arena on July 22nd. Remember when they never came here? This is two Detroit dates in like six years. Let’s hope the trend continues. If you weren’t lucky enough to pick up a ticket through their presale Wednesday morning, the box office opens to everyone at 11am Friday. Floor seats will run you about $91 with fe...

A business staple in the Ferndale community, Detroit Comics will close its doors after a decade-long run. Owner Brian Kelly tells Metro Times that it wasn’t just a single factor that made him decide to pull the plug. “We’ve been doing it for a while,” Kelly says. “Me and my wife were talking, and we said, ‘Let’s do something else.’ “The results are not what they used to be, and it was maybe more stress than I want at this point in my life.” While there has been a Hollywood boom of super...

#RustBeltRiders first ride out. 23-miles I did not get a picture! This was mostly just a test ride to get comfortable with the route. Meetup @ noon on Saturday on March 2nd at the Downtown Ferndale Bike Shop. Good fun fast ride for road biking beginners to enthusiasts. Clear day warm sun, around 40 degrees, winds from the north. 4-wheel traffic was light. East side of woodward corridor route. Took Bermuda till it stops, then headed west toward Woodward, made it north through some of ...

Watch Performance Here The Wombats are ready to drop their fourth studio album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, this Friday (February 9) and stopped by Rolling Stone to promote their release with a mini acoustic set. The English indie-poppers strummed away with their latest single, “Lemon to a Knife Fight,” and ballad “Turn,” showing off their harmonizing skills. St. Vincent released her excellent fifth studio album, MASSEDUCTION, back in October. The former Polyphonic Spree member made a trip to Spotify’s NYC office to record a scaled back version of MASSEDUCTION single “Los Ageless,” which you can listen to below. As SPIN reports, St. Vincent also covered Rihanna and SZA’s 2016 track “Consideration” for the streaming music service.
